🌐 THE DIGITAL PROOF UNIT

Baby Diapers • Feminine Care • Adult Incontinence
The Digital Proof Unit (DPU) is the batch-level record that enables verifiable ESG traceability for hygiene products sold in Europe. A DPU answers one question with legal certainty:

Can you prove where this product came from — and can that proof be independently verified, instantly?

Issuance Status

On December 31, 2025, Digital Proof Units (DPUs) were issued under the EU ECO-10060 canonical program and immutably anchored on enterprise cloud infrastructure in Germany (Frankfurt region, eu-central-1) using compliance-grade write-once, read-many (WORM) retention.

Each DPU represents a verifiable, audit-ready batch record and is publicly resolvable via TreeFreePassport.de.

About DPUPassport

The Traceability Engine for Europe’s Hygiene Sector: DPU Passport operates the issuance and resolution layer for Digital Proof Units used across the European hygiene supply chain. DPUs replace paper certificates, supplier declarations, and scanned PDFs with immutable, machine-readable records designed for audit, regulatory review, and enterprise ingestion.

Why Traceability Is the Core of the Standard

Europe’s hygiene sector is now governed by enforceable regulation. Certificate-based trust no longer meets legal or audit requirements.

  • Pulp origin creates deforestation exposure under EUDR
  • SAP and polymers are subject to chemical scrutiny and Green Claims liability
  • Packaging falls under PPWR material disclosure rules
  • Global imports trigger CSRD and customs accountability
  • Billions of units require mandatory batch-level evidence

Compliance now requires deterministic, batch-specific proof — not narratives.

The DPU standard binds origin, materials, manufacturing data, and environmental metrics into a single, immutable batch record.

Material origin and applicability evidence

Traceability is not layered on.
It is native to the DPU.

At DPUPassport, we take pride in our key initiatives that drive traceability and safety in hygiene products. Discover our crucial highlights below:

What the Digital Proof Unit Actually Does

he DPU is the single verifiable source of truth for a batch record, designed to answer the following with precision:

  • Where did this batch come from?
Origin, raw materials, supplier chain, factory, and timestamps.
  • What is in it?
Pulp grams, SAP grams, polymer types, packaging layers, and chemical profile.
  • What is the environmental footprint?
CO₂, water, energy, and waste — measured and recorded, not estimated.
  • Is it compliant?
EUDR evidence, PPWR packaging data, and CSRD-ready ESG reporting.
  • Can it be verified instantly?
Yes — via QR, API, retail systems, or audit dashboards.

This is traceability without friction. Proof without paperwork.

The Auditor-Ready Standard

The DPU is the operational proof layer for the hygiene value chain. It is built on enterprise-grade immutable record retention and audit-ready cloud infrastructure designed for independent verification.

The DPU serves:

  • Manufacturers — to prove origin and material integrity
  • Retailers — to eliminate compliance exposure
  • Auditors — who require primary data, not summaries
  • Regulators — who expect live, verifiable transparency

Consumer Confidence

DPUs provide consumers with transparent, verifiable insight into the origin and environmental footprint of hygiene products — replacing trust claims with proof.

Security by Design

Each DPU is secured through immutable storage, cryptographic integrity checks, and jurisdiction-specific data residency — ensuring long-term reliability and regulatory durability.

01

Green Claims Verification

Green claims must be substantiated. DPUs support verification of recycled content, packaging disclosures, bio-based claims, and material classifications — enabling compliant communication under EU consumer law.

02

CSRD Audit Liability

This leads to the audit liability of the CSRD, which demands batch level ESG reporting for CSRD and verifiable energy consumption per batch. As an auditable sustainability reporting manufacturer, you must now answer how to calculate product carbon footprint for CSRD to meet the Big 4 audit requirements CSRD and ensure CSRD compliance for private label.

03

The EUDR Material Traceability Mandate

Private-label hygiene compliance now requires batch-level material evidence. NGO tree certification alone is insufficient. EUDR demands traceable origin data or a legally valid exemption basis. The DPU delivers that determination at the batch level.
